Redecoration and furnishing of a large country house in the Surrey Hills, bringing a glamorous, contemporary character to its rustic architecture.
The large barn room forms the centrepiece of the project, designed as a generous space for entertaining with a bespoke bar and wallpaper that extends from the apex of the pitched ceiling to the floor, emphasising the soaring proportions of the room.
Leading into the barn, a lower-ceilinged lobby is enveloped in dark Peacock wallpaper, creating an intimate, theatrical contrast to the expansive room beyond.
A deep green snug with accents of terracotta, caramel and tobacco provides a more cocooning atmosphere, while the powder room pairs black floral wallpaper with Arabescato marble and antique-brass fittings.
Throughout, the scheme balances the glamour requested by the client with the natural materials, proportions and rustic character of the original architecture.
